Eight weeks into the 2012-2013 school year, our staff, students and community experienced one of the most painful events that can happen. On October 5, 2012, MarQuis TreShawn Teague, one of our eighth graders lost his battle with brain cancer. MarQuis was one of those students that had true joy shining in his eyes. Whether he was sneaking a few of a staff members French fries from his/her lunch tray, singin’ “Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me” or refusing to walk the track with Mr. Freeman or Ms. Stephanie until he could blow on a whistle, MarQuis spread happiness to everyone he came in contact with. The spirit of that young man prevailed even when he was sick. Taking a quick nap then getting back to school work even while battling cancer was just one thing that showed that MarQuis was a remarkable student.Add a comment
