Pan De Vida To Award Students with $1400 Scholarships for Outstanding Community Service

by: Mary Gloria

The Pan de Vida Foundation is back at work in the community and is proud to announce that two high school students have been chosen and will each be the recipients of $1400 scholarship from the non profit.

According to Mary Gloria, Pan de Vida’s founder, the scholarship program is one of the most important works the non profit does in the community.  “These scholarships will help these students pursue their college education. There is so much more to life than just good grades. These students have shown that they care and believe in making a difference for others and that is very important not only for their future, but for our future communities.” Rebecca Garcia was chose from the JO Combs School District in San Tan Valley and Evelyn Alvidrez was chosen from Poston Butte in the Florence Unified School District.

Pan De Vida will award the students during a ceremony on Friday, June 15th at 7pm at San Tan Mountain Regional Park. The park is located at 6533 West Phillips Road in Queen Creek.

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Dr. Amy Fuller -- Florence Unified School District
  • Dr. Gayle Blanchard -- J O Combs Unified School District
  • Mary Gloria -- The Pan de Vida Foundation
  • Jack Malpass -- The San Tan Valley Think Tank
  • David Jordan -- The San Tan Mountain Regional Park

All community service organizations are invited to send representatives to attend the ceremony in appreciation for these students’ passion for community service. Light refreshments will be served.

Pan de Vida Foundation started the “College Scholarship 4 Girls” Program in 2007 and has been  presenting two, two year scholarships to local high Schools students for over five years. The scholarships are awarded to qualifying young ladies, high school graduate, with a “C” grade or better, who are involved in community work.
